Hi! Thanks for visiting my website. I do things with words. As a journalist, editor and proofreader, I've worked for newspapers, magazines, websites, nonprofits and universities. I spent 10 years at the Ventura County Star in Southern California as an assistant editor, and before then I was a reporter and editor at L.A. Parent magazine. I’ve also written for the Los Angeles Times, Slate, the National Catholic Reporter, Culturebot and the American Library Association. My specialty is writing about the arts, culture and lifestyle, but I've covered everything from health and politics to religion and finance. I edit anything from academic papers to books and websites, and publications for universities including UC Santa Barbara and California Lutheran University. I earned my M.A. in journalism in 2025 at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York City, with a concentration in arts and culture, and a B.A. from Mount Saint Mary's University in Los Angeles, California. I love poetry, photography, Winnie-the-Pooh (classic, not Disney), ballerina roses, polka dots, kindness, Emily Dickinson, sunshine, Samuel Beckett, small towns, museums, classical music and any sort of creativity on a live stage. A bunch of my stories are on my Authory page. Send me an email at karenlindell2@gmail.com or kll2143@columbia.edu.
